Okay, okay. So we all know Halloween is a lot bigger in America than it is here… but that doesn’t mean you can’t join in the fun! Whether you choose to go trick or treating with the kids (a great excuse to sneak some of their lollies), or dress up in your craziest Halloween costume (there are some seriously crazy costumes out there), Halloween is a fun way to blow off some steam (even if it is on a Monday this year… boo!).

Before we get started with our spooky list of Halloween recipes, let’s pause for a moment for a little Halloween history.

For starters, when did Halloween really start? It is thought that Halloween began with the ancient Celtic Samhain festival – a more superstitious age where people dressed up and lit bonfires to keep the ghosts away. Then, way back in the eighth century (yep, a long time ago!), Pope Gregory III ordered a holiday (called All Saints’ Day) to honour all saints and martyrs on November 1st, which fell on the same day as Samhain. From here, October 31st was given the name All Hallows’ Eve, which eventually evolved into the Halloween we know today.

So, there you go – a bit of Halloween history to whet your appetite! And speaking of appetite… these spooky Halloween recipes are sure to get your stomach rumbling!
