The humble letterbox is one of the first things people will notice when arriving at your home, so you’ll want to make sure you pick a design that suits your home and will look good for years to come.

When choosing a letterbox for your home, there are a few things you should consider:

1. Placement
Make sure your letterbox is on the boundary line of your property, and that it is easily seen and accessible. Bonus points if it has your house number on it, so your guests won’t be driving around wondering if they’ve got the right place!

2. Materials
Your letterbox is going to experience all the elements, from frosty mornings and thunderstorms, right through to searing hot days and nights. Therefore, you’ll want to choose hardy materials that can withstand this type of rough treatment. Think sandstone, stainless steel, aluminium, brick… the list goes on!

3. Privacy
Don’t want people snooping through your mail? Consider installing a lock on your letterbox to prevent this from happening.

4. Size
Are you someone who likes receiving weekly catalogues and newspapers in the post? Then make sure you install a letterbox that has the capacity to handle all these materials, or you’ll soon have issues with overflowing post that just looks messy.

At Ventura, we take letterbox design very seriously. Just take a look at some of our display homes throughout the Perth metropolitan area and South West. These include The Sienna, The Monterosso and The Macquarie. In each of these single and double storey homes, the letterbox has been carefully designed to perfectly complement the exterior of the home.
