There are a number of great incentives available to help you get into a home of your own, including the WA First Home Owners grant (FHOG) – a once-off payment of $10,000 to help eligible first home buyers get into the market and build a home of their own (established homes don’t qualify for the grant).
Right now, first home buyers may also be eligible to receive the federal government’s HomeBuilder Grant and the WA Building Bonus – a total of up to $55,000 to possibly put towards building a new home!

Do I Qualify?
You may be eligible for the First Home Owners grant in WA if;
- You are 18 years or older
- You are an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- You or your spouse have not previously received the First Home Owners grant in any other state or territory
- You occupy the home as your primary residence for a continuous period of at least six months, within 12 months of receiving the grant
First Home Owners Grant Limits
In addition to meeting the eligibility criteria, to receive the grant you must also ensure that your new homes’ purchase price does not exceed $750,000.

Stamp Duty Concessions
If you qualify for the WA First Home Owners grant then you may also be eligible for stamp duty concessions or exemptions on your new land. As a first home owner you won’t need to pay any stamp duty on land valued at less than $300,000.
